Shopping never ends in Chiang Mai, This Sunday Market is truly a heaven for the locals, especially teens and young adolescents to come, shop and mingle with friends. It is a large street market located right in the centre of the old walled city area of Chiang Mai, starting at the Tha Phae Gate at one end for roughly 1kilometer down Ratchadamnoen Road. Like the name said, it opens every Sundays from 4pm till midnight. This is a hip place where you can browse around a wide variety of merchandise; many of them are hand-made and designed by young street vendors who are very creative. You can also see a showcase of art and crafts of the Northern Thai people and buy some as souvenirs for your friends and family back home and the prices are very cheap, but again don’t forget to bargain! There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and bars in the Market area where you can opt out of the crowd and sit and enjoy a meal or a drink and watch the flow of shoppers. As night drawn the Market comes alive with street performers, musicians, puppeteers, Thai dancers, and bands waiting to entertain you. It is such a nice and exciting shopping experience you cannot find elsewhere, except here at Chiang Mai Sunday Market! Saturday Wualai Market Wualai, Famed for its Tai Kuen silversmiths, turns into a pedestrian-only market every Saturday evening from 5pm until 11pm.
