Travel Jim Thomson House

Visit the former house of the late silk tycoon for a true beauty of Thai architecture and a stunning collection of rare Asian artifacts. The exquisite complex of six traditional Thai teak houses once belonged to James H.W. Thompson, a former CIA who settled down in Thailand after the World War II and later founded the world famous  Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company in 1948. An avid collector himself, his house displays antiques and collectibles he sourced from around Asia such as Buddha images from 13th century, original Thai paintings from 18th century and Chinese porcelains from 14th century. The houses themselves, are also the highlight. Relocated from Ayutthaya, the former capital city of Siam Kingdom, in 1959, all six teak houses set in the lush-jungle-like garden show the very authentic Thai architectural style during the past centuries. In the area there are also an Art Center exhibiting rotating exhibitions and the Jim Thompson Store selling silk products.
